23 Feb – 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Marine Corps League Det. 513 is sponsoring an event, 1400-1630, to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima at Beef O’Bradys at 3030 Lake Washington Rd, Melbourne in a private meeting room.  Please come out and join us, and bring your friends and family.  No uniforms required.

25 Feb —  VMC Library Speaker’s Series World War II – The Pacific Theater.  1800-1930.  Thirty minute film presentation and discussion led by Doug Bisset who had five family members in the war.  Snacks and drinks.

15 Mar — Annual Last Naval Battle of the Revolutionary War Celebration/Commemoration  at VMC Plaza.  Sponsored and staged by the Brevard Sons of the American Revolution with assistance from VMC and MOAACC Good Deeds Foundation.  Details in February 2025.

FEBRUARY 2025

22 Feb  — JROTC District Drill Meet at VMC Park 0700-1200.  See many teams compete in Color Guard, Squad and Platoon drills.  Use west entrance to park with parking in the mall spaces close to Fortenberry Rd.  Support the cadets, especially between 1000-1200 for final drills and trophy/medal presentations funded by MOAACC Good Deeds Foundation. 

22 Feb —  USAF JROTC State wide Drill meet for Air/Space Force programs at Melbourne HS 0800-1300.   Support cadets from many schools, especially 1030-1230 for final drills and award presentations sponsored by MOAACC/GDF.

27 Feb —  Honor America Awards Ceremony 1800-2100 at the Grand Manor on Sarno Road in Eau Gallie.  Sponsored by the Liberty Bell Museum this dinner recognizes outstanding volunteers in the community.  Dean Schaaf, VMC President is among the Awardees this year.  Reserve your dinner and place through  libertybellmuseum.org.   

28 Feb —   Every Day is Veterans Day 1000-1330 at the Space Coast Center for Collaboration on Rte 1 in Rockledge.  RSVPs will  be required. Many vendors, veteran info booths, food and drinks and much more to honor and celebrate veterans.  Sponsored by One Senior Place.  Contact Angie Higgins  of One Senior Place at 321- 751-6771 for more info and to RSVP.  This event was set for last fall, but along came MILTON.

08 Mar —  JROTC District Drill Meet with hundreds of cadets in competition in five events.  VMC Park 0700-1200.

12 Mar —  A Tribute to Vietnam Veterans Commemorating National Vietnam Veterans Day,  12 March 1700-1900 hrs. Eau Gallie Civic Center 1551 Highland Ave.  Sponsored by DAV Chapter 32.  Featuring speakers who are all Vietnam Veterans, two former DAV National Commanders and a former POW who spent 6 years in the Hanoi Hilton.  RSVP via email to attend  mail@fldav32.org or to sponsor and get more info commander@fldav32.org

15 Mar — 242nd Annual Last Naval Battle of the Revolutionary War Celebration/Commemoration  at VMC Plaza 1000-1130.  Sponsored and staged by the Brevard Sons of the American Revolution with assistance from VMC and MOAACC Good Deeds Foundation.  Featuring US Navy support from NOTU at Port Canaveral,  Marine Corps League Color Guard, Sea Cadet Color Guard and parade of flags from many SAR, DAR and CAR units from several states.  Wreath Laying in memory of the fallen in at 1783 battle off the cost of what is now Cape Canaveral.   Contact Donn Weaver, VMC for more info on 757-871-6576.  

15 Mar —  Annual Commemoration of the WWII Bataan Death March at Space Coast HS  0900-1300.    Air Force and Space Force JROTC units only come together for a 13 mile long ruck March to remember this tragic chapter in American military history and reflect on the sacrifice of our prisoners of war. NOTE:   Date and Venue Change made 07 Feb due to military vehicles scheduled to be on display.  Previously at VMC Park 15 Feb.  

29 March —  JROTC District Championship Drill Meet at VMC Park 0700-1300.  State Championship Qualifier.  

29 Mar —   Annual and Final Vietnam Welcome Home Ceremony at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 1000-1100 with a program to remember the service and sacrifice of the Vietnam War with the anniversary of the American withdrawal in 1975, fifty years ago.  

NOTE:   This is also National Vietnam War Remembrance Day with other events planned throughout the county and country.  This is the final year of that official VA and USG commemoration began decades after the troops came home to divided America. 

 

APRIL 2025

11 Apr —  4th Annual Golf Tournament Hosted by National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) and Sponsored by Northrup Grumman Management Club.  Rockledge Country Club 0800- 1300 with Scramble Start.  Proceeds Support NVHS 2025 Missions.  Prizes and sponsorships available.  $100 per player registration fee.  Win a New Car with a Hole in One.  Sign up to play or sponsor at:  nvhs.org/events

11 Apr —  2025 Shrimp Feast 1800-2200 at Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 5 (8445 Rowland Dr. Port Canaveral).  Cost is $50 for early birds through 17 March at $60 afterwards.  No tickets at the door.  Have fun and support our Propeller Club of Port Canaveral Maritime Education Programs.  Cocktails, Shrimp Dinner, Door Prizes, Live. 29 Apr — Scouting America Central Florida Council Golden Eagle Dinner at Florida Tech Conference Center 150 W. University Blvd Melbourne, 1800-2100.  Fundraising Dinner and Auction to support our youth involved in scouting, many of which are also in JROTC or other Cadet Programs.  Donate or Sign up at www,cflscouting.org event site.  

 

MAY 2025

04 May —  Back Brevard Hero Fest VMC Plaza 1000-1600. Entertainment, food , food trucks,  music, special events for kids and much more all to honor our county first responders many of whom are also military veterans.  More Details in April. . 

08-11 May —  37th Veterans Memorial Reunion , Wickham Park 0900-1800 day.  Formerly Vietnam Veterans of Brevard Vietnam Reunion.   Now hosted by a new organization —  Veterans Memorial Reunion, Inc (VMRI) a new 501c3.  Wreath laying Ceremony on Monday 05 May 1600-1900.   Check web site below to register.  Vietnam and Global War on Terror Some Gave all walls included.  Escort and wall construction on Sunday 04 May from EFSC to Wickham Park.   Vendor registration requited  and more info at veteransmemorialreunion.org

19-27 May —  Gold Star Mother and Artist Jeanne Weaver display of 21 paintings –  Losing Todd: A Mother’s Journey.   1LT Todd Weaver, USA was killed in combat in Afghanistan 09 Sep 2010.  Porcher House  in Cocoa Village 0900-1500 daily.  More details in March.  

26 May —  Brevard Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony VMC Plaza 0930 -1030.  Details in April  

26 May —  Memorial Day Ceremony at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims 1000-1100.   Details in April. 

26 May —  Parade and Memorial Day Ceremony Cocoa Village and Riverfront Park 1500 Parade and 1700 Ceremony.  Look for details of the program in April.
